Tribute to Sylvia

Sylvia was a wonderful person whose outgoing and generous personality meant she was blessed with countless friends. Sylvia was very proud to have trained as a nurse at Barts in London and went on to have many adventures nursing with the RAF in the UK and overseas.

Later in life, Sylvia continued to help others by giving her time to numerous charities including Save the Children and SSAFA. Sylvia particularly admired the work of the RNLI and often said she would have liked to buy a lifeboat for them! If you would like to make a donation to the RNLI in Sylvia’s memory, you can do so using the link on this page.

We are having a service to give thanks for Sylvia’s life and celebrate her many achievements. It will take place on Saturday 22 October at 11.30 at her much loved local church in Figheldean followed by refreshments at Figheldean Village Hall. We warmly invite you to join us then for what we hope will be a chance to share happy memories. Please scroll down this page to ‘events’ for more details of the service. We would be grateful if you could let us know if you would like to join us for this special day so that we can give numbers to our caterers.

There will also be a much smaller cremation service at Hereford Crematorium on 13 October at 1.15. You are welcome to join us then if you would prefer.

You can also light a candle, leave a thought or share a memory about Sylvia on this page. Just click on the ‘thoughts’ or ‘candle’ links in the drop down menu on the right hand corner of the page. We would love to read your comments.
